Celebrating 10 Years with HVC Cigars at PCA 2025

Celebrating 10 Years with HVC Cigars at PCA 2025

By Humberto Areas, Creative Director at Cigar Package Design

One of the many highlights of PCA 2025 in New Orleans was reconnecting with Reinier Lorenzo of HVC Cigars—a friend, a creative partner, and someone whose passion for cigars is evident in everything he does. Reinier and his sister, Josefa Vega, have been friends of ours for many years, so when the opportunity to collaborate on not one, but two milestone projects came up, we were honored and thrilled.

Designing with Legacy in Mind: La Rosa 520

The first project was the creation of a secondary band to commemorate the 10th anniversary of “La Rosa 520.” This cigar is incredibly personal to Reinier—it’s named after his actual home address in La Habana, Cuba: 520 La Rosa. It’s more than a name; it’s a tribute to his roots.

For the 10-year milestone, we designed a bold black, red, and gold secondary band that seamlessly complements the original red and gold primary band. The result is an elevated look that respects the cigar’s heritage while marking its evolution.

A Vintage Twist: Edición Especial 2015

Next up was a full redesign of the Edición Especial 2015, another HVC staple celebrating its own decade-long legacy. Reinier wanted a look that paid homage to vintage Cuba, and that’s exactly where we took our design inspiration.

The new branding includes two line extensions:

  • Limited Edition 10-count box
  • Regular Production 20-count box

Each format has its own design flair while keeping the vintage Cuban aesthetic at the core.

A Partnership Built on Respect

Despite his packed schedule at the show, Reinier took the time to share some kind words on camera, expressing his gratitude and satisfaction with both projects. His support means the world to us—and it’s a reminder that this industry is about much more than cigars. It’s about relationships, trust, and shared values.

We’re deeply thankful to Reinier and the HVC team for allowing us to be part of these important moments. Our goal is to continue strengthening our collaboration into 2025 and beyond.

🛍 The PCA Trade Show (April 11–14, 2025) in New Orleans was, once again, the epicenter of the premium cigar industry. Hosted by the Premium Cigar Association, it’s the B2B event of the year, welcoming attendees from over 25 countries and more than 250 manufacturers. And best of all, all proceeds go directly to advocacy efforts that support specialty tobacco retailing.
