Project: Logo/Identity, Package Design & Cigar Bands
Client: Casa Cuevas Cigars
The Cuevas Reserva Dominican Selection is the second blend to be release by our friends at Casa Cuevas Cigars. The brand originally launched many years ago as Cuevas Habanos. Because of conflicting trademark issues, we were asked to create a new identity for a brand new audience.
The new look Cuevas Reserva pays tribute to the Cuban heritage of the Cuevas family. Honor, family history and quality craftsmanship are values that go into producing a premium hand rolled cigar. This passion, this way of life, is exactly what we tried to capture through our creative process. Mr. Luis Cuevas, president of the company, explained to us that the new packaging should be rooted in vintage Cuban cigar brands. The classic paper wrapped cigar box has a prominent watercolor painting of a tobacco field and curing barn, and it’s finished off with an ornate ‘filete’ (trim). Inspiration for this was drawn from the Cuevas family early start in the tobacco industry, when they were tobacco growers in Cuba.
The Casa Cuevas Cigars’ team is poised to make an impact in the cigar industry since the launch of of their namesake cigars. Now with the new Cuevas Reserva, they have a great one-and-two punch, as they deliver premium quality cigars to fans and consumers alike. Project consisted of a new logo, color palette, cigar band and cigar box packaging design layouts.
