CPD at IPCPR 2012

CPD at IPCPR 2012

August 2012 brought the IPCPR (International Premium Cigar & Pipe Retailers Association) 80th Annual Convention & International Trade Show to Orlando Florida, the most important event of the year for tobacconists. We at CPD are proud to have been part of the show and unveil our identity and product designs for Salutem and Master Habano Maduro. We also had a great time reconnecting with old friends and opportunities to make new friends there, too.

For the third consecutive year CPD, and their designs, have worked with the great folks from Toraño Family Cigar Co. “This IPCPR is the most ambitious to date regarding new releases for Toraño. We have been hard at work for many years to offer a diversity of flavors and packaging to our consumers and it’s exciting to get them to the market,” says Charlie Toraño, President of Toraño Family Cigar Co.

We at CPD were at the helm for the unveiling Toraño’s new company look and booth design in 2010. The designs for the launch of Blends from the Vault and Loyal in 2011, and this year for the launch of Salutem, Master Habano Maduro, 90+ Rated Collection pack, Variety Sampler pack and custom LFC tray.

As creative professionals, we now look forward to upcoming IPCPR shows in order to gauge trends, creativity and over all package presentation relating to cigars and tobacco products. But above all, we look forward to spending time with some of the great people who make up the cigar industry. With all the industry events, the IPCPR is a great time to reconnect with friends. We had a chance to visit our good friend Oliver Hyams, Marketing Director at Gurkha Cigars, who was kind enough to walk us around the new blends being launched at the show. We also met with our good friend Willy Herrera, master blender for Drew Estate, who was delighted to be showcasing Herrera Esteli – this is the first blend for Willy under Drew Estate who came over from El Titan de Bronze (in Little Havana, FL) about a year ago.

At the Toraño Cigar Hospitality Tent Party, we were joined by Ivan Ocampo from Cigar Snob Magazine, who filled us in on the growth and bigger distribution of the magazine. Barnes & Noble is now carrying the publication nationwide, and we have no doubt this will be an exceptional year for Ivan and the rest of the team at Cigar Snob. This year, we had our moment in the spotlight, as we met and chatted William Cooper from Cigar-Coop.com. Cigar-Coop.com is a website dedicated to provide cigar enthusiasts honest assessments of new cigars and latest happenings in the cigar industry, so make to check them out. William was kind enough to interview us regarding our new designs for Salutem and Master Maduro, as well as current and upcoming trends in cigar packaging and factors considered when creating a new identity for a new cigar blend. Check out the video interview below.

The making of premium cigars is truly an art form, a passion and a way of life. The industry and cigar enthusiasts alike make their way to the IPCPR every year to share this passion for their love of cigars. We at CPD completely relate as we also have a passion for creativity. To concept, design and produce new visuals is our way of life. We are privileged to bring our passion for all things visual and blend it with the cigar industry as we create our own “Liga” in design.
